Goody had a number of health scares throughout the 2000s. In 2002, shortly before her Big Brother 3 appearance, she had a cervical smear test which revealed abnormal cells, a possible indicator of cancer. She was later tested for ovarian cancer in 2004 and bowel cancer in 2006, but was given the all-clear on each occasion. She underwent hospital tests in early August 2008 after her fourth cancer scare. She had already collapsed four times. The test results confirmed she had cervical cancer; she was told of this on 19 August 2008 while in the Indian version of Big Brother, called Bigg Boss. Her spokesperson said, "It looks like her cancer is at an early stage but we will have to wait until she gets back to Britain and sees a specialist and has more tests".

She was an English stage and screen actress. A member of the Redgrave family, she was the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and director/producer Tony Richardson and the granddaughter of Michael Redgrave and Rachel Kempson. Early in her career she portrayed Mary Shelley and Patty Hearst in feature films, and she received critical acclaim and a Theatre World Award for her Broadway debut in the 1993 revival of Anna Christie. She won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, and the Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Sally Bowles in the 1998 Broadway revival of Cabaret. Some of her notable films included Nell (1994), The Parent Trap (1998) and Maid in Manhattan (2002).
Richardson's father died of AIDS-related causes in 1991. She helped raise millions of dollars in the fight against AIDS through the charity amfAR, the American Foundation for AIDS Research. The actress died in 2009 following a head injury sustained when she fell during a skiing lesson in the Canadian province of Quebec.

Silver died of esophageal cancer, which he was diagnosed with two years earlier.
Silver made his film debut in Tunnel Vision in 1976. From 1976 to 1978 he played downstairs neighbor Gary Levy in the series Rhoda. Additional screen roles include Lovesick (1983), the devoted son of Anne Bancroft in Garbo Talks (1984), an incompetent detective in Eat and Run (1986), the pistol-wielding psychopath opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in 1989's Blue Steel. and the lead in Paul Mazursky's Oscar-nominated Enemies: A Love Story (1989). Silver also starred opposite Jerry Lewis in the "Garment District Arc" of the crime show Wiseguy (1988). He often said in interviews that growing up the son of a man working in the garment industry was a great help in preparing for the role. He also portrayed defense attorney Alan Dershowitz in Reversal of Fortune (1990), based on the trial of Claus von Bülow. In 1998, he starred opposite Kirstie Alley for the last 2 seasons of Veronica's Closet.

He was an American screenwriter and novelist. His works include the Academy Award-nominated Bad Day at Black Rock (1955). He was also one of the creators of Mr. Magoo.
McSweeney's published Kaufman's first novel, titled Bowl of Cherries, in October 2007. Kaufman was 86 years old when he began work on the novel and 90 when it was published. His second novel, Misadventure, will be published posthumously.

Blair died in London after a bout with cancer.

She was a Polish hammer thrower. She was known for her Olympic gold medal in Sydney 2000, which made her the youngest Olympic hammer champion, as well as for her two medals from the European Championships. Her personal best throw, and Polish record, was 76.83 metres, achieved in May 2007 in Doha. She died on 18 February 2009 in Vila Real de Santo António, Portugal during a Polish national team training camp.
The cause of her death (originally reported in many media as likely a heart attack) was confirmed by autopsy to be pulmonary embolism. Concerns were raised that the problem could have been detected earlier if a doctor had been accompanying the team.

She was travelling from Newark Liberty International Airport to Buffalo Niagara International Airport aboard Colgan Air Flight 3407. The aircraft crashed in Clarence Center, New York.

He was an American freestyle motocross racer from San Diego, California.
On February 7, 2009, Lusk crashed while attempting to land a "Hart Attack indian air backflip" in a freestyle motocross competition in San Jose, Costa Rica. Lusk under-rotated the flip, causing his front wheel to strike the landing and eject Lusk head first off the bike. He sustained head injuries, severe brain damage and a possible spinal cord injury. On February 10, 2009, he entered into cardiac and respiratory failure at Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia Hospital in San José, Costa Rica.

Billy Powell was the longtime keyboardist of Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, from 1970 until his death.
The keyboardist died at the age of 56 at his home in Orange Park, Florida. Powell called 911 at 12:55 a.m., complaining of shortness of breath. He missed his appointment with the doctor on the day before his death; the appointment was for a checkup on his heart. The EMS responders found Powell unconscious and unresponsive, with the telephone still in his hand. Rescue crews performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at 1:52 am.

He was a character actor who specialized in playing menacing or offbeat people. Perhaps his best-known role was as corrupt cop "Buzz" Meeks in L.A. Confidential. Sandeen started as a stage actor on Broadway, appearing in the original casts of Young Abe Lincoln, Can-Can, Here's Love, a revival of Guys and Dolls, A Joyful Noise, and The Fig Leaves are Falling. He can be heard on three cast albums. Moving to Hollywood, he appeared on such television shows as Bonanza and Route 66. He was featured in L.A. Confidential, Blazing Saddles, and They Call Me Bruce?. Sandeen continued acting until shortly before his death; later roles included appearing as a possible conspirator in the Kennedy assassination in Interview with the Assassin, playing opposite porn star Mary Carey in Pervert!, and playing Homeless Al in String Theory. Sandeen remained active in theatre as part of the Musical Theatre Guild in Los Angeles.

Vierny began as an artists' model in her mid-teens and evolved from being a simple muse to taking a serious interest in the business of curating the art of those for whom she worked. She regarded Maillol as her finest benefactor and mentor. He in turn produced so many works based on her inspiration that some of the maquettes remained un-cast until well after the artist's death. One such example is entitled Nymph, a life-sized figure study modeled when she was seventeen but not cast until 1953, and is permanently on display at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.
After Maillol’s death, in a car crash, Vierny collected the work of Maillol and dozens of his contemporaries, including Matisse and Bonnard, Marcel Duchamp, Wassily Kandinsky, Ilya Kabakov and Vladimir Yankilevsky. These works are now displayed at the Musée Maillol in Paris. She died in Paris at the age of 89.
