The Texas Seven was a group of prisoners who escaped from the John Connally Unit near Kenedy, Texas, on December 13, 2000. They were apprehended a little more than a month later, on January 21–23, 2001, as a direct result of the television show America's Most Wanted. On December 13, 2000, the seven carried out an elaborate scheme and escaped from the John B. Connally Unit, a maximum-security state prison near the South Texas city of Kenedy. A friend of Wade Holder, the owner of the Coachlight Motel and R.V. Park in Woodland Park, Colorado, happened to watch the television program America's Most Wanted on January 20, 2001. He believed that the Texas 7, who were being compared to Ángel Maturino Reséndiz, were in Holder's trailer park and informed Holder so. When he confirmed this, he reported the suspicious activities to local authorities the next day on January 21. The El Paso County Sheriff's Department SWAT team found Garcia, Rodriguez, and Rivas in a Jeep Cherokee in the RV Park. Authorities moved in and captured them at a nearby gas station. Rodriguez announced that he wished to forgo any further appeal (beyond the appeal to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, mandatory in all death-penalty cases). He underwent a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation in January 2007, which concluded that he was mentally competent to decide to forgo further appeals, and he was executed on August 14, 2008, the first of the surviving members to be executed.

Hoogstraten
Dorothy (alias: Dorothy Stratten). 1980-08-14

20

Born 1960-02-28. Domain:Performing. Cause of death:Murder

She was murdered at age 20 by her estranged husband, an act that was the basis of two motion pictures. Stratten and Carol Willis are the only two Playmates who died within a year and a half after their Playboy appearance, both aged 20, the youngest a Playmate died.
Snider and Stratten met at Snider's duplex, in which the couple had once lived along with their friend, Dr. Stephen Cushner. Cushner still lived in the home with his girlfriend and his girlfriend's best friend, but Cushner and the women were all out for the day when Stratten showed up at the home. What exactly transpired is unknown; at noon, Snider's private investigator called the apartment. He was aware that Stratten and Snider were meeting, and wanted to make sure that everything was going smoothly. Snider told the detective "Everything is going fine" and hung up.
At 5:00 p.m., Cushner's girlfriend and her friend arrived home to find Stratten's car in the driveway. The door to Snider's room was closed and Stratten was nowhere to be seen; the women assumed that the two were in the bedroom and wanted privacy. They stayed until 6:00 p.m. to watch the news, then left at 6:30.
At 7:00 p.m., Cushner arrived home and found Stratten's car in the driveway. He assumed that Snider and Stratten wanted privacy. One hour later, at 8:00 p.m., Cushner's girlfriend and her friend arrived back home from dinner. At 11:00 p.m., the private investigator called Cushner. According to the investigator, Snider had given him instructions to periodically check in over the course of the day, but Snider hadn't answered his private line for some time. The investigator told Cushner that he believed something was wrong and that someone needed to check on Snider and Stratten.
Shortly after 11:00 p.m., Cushner entered Snider's room. There he discovered Stratten dead from a gunshot wound to the head and Snider from a self-inflicted gunshot. Peter Bogdanovich's movie They All Laughed (in which he had cast Stratten) received such bad press surrounding her death that no studio wanted to release it. Bogdanovich financed the release personally, but the movie proved to be a box office failure.

Anderson
Robert. 1967-08-14

36

Born 1931-05-19. Domain:Sport. Cause of death:Accident

He was a Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and racing driver from England. He competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1958 to 1960 and in Formula One from 1963 to the 1967 seasons. He was also a two-time winner of the North West 200 race in Northern Ireland. After several seasons in motorcycle racing in which he finished in the top ten on several occasions, he switched to car racing in 1961, when he ran a Formula Junior Lola in a race at Snetterton. He continued to race cars and eventually became a Team Lotus Formula Junior driver, winning a race at Autodrome de Montlhéry and finishing second at Monaco. He entered Formula One in 1963 with his own Lola Mk4 car, under the guise of DW Racing Enterprises, a small team compared to other private outfits such as Scuderia Filipinetti or Rob Walker Racing Team. DW was actually only composed of Bob and a small team of mechanics. Despite this hindrance he took the flexible little Lola to victory in the non-Championship Rome Grand Prix in that first year. In later years he ran private Brabham cars under the same banner, with his best result a third place in the 1964 Austrian Grand Prix. He was awarded the von Trips Memorial Trophy as the most successful private entrant of 1964. In 1967 he suffered an accident while testing at Silverstone, in which he slid off the track in wet conditions and hit a marshal's post. Anderson suffered serious chest and neck injuries and died later in Northampton General Hospital.
