He was an English racing cyclist who became the world amateur road race champion in 1967. In response to a journalist's shouted comment that the last British amateur world road champion had been Dave Marsh 45 years earlier, Webb retorted: "And they'll have to wait another 45 years before another British rider wins." Not only did no British man win a world road race championship in the following 45 years, but none can now win the amateur championship as the segregation between amateur and professional cycling no longer exists.

Born 1968-02-08. Domain:Performing. Cause of death:Accident

Coleman was charged with assault in 1998 after he punched a woman. He was working as a security guard, and bus driver Tracy Fields requested his autograph while he was shopping for a bulletproof vest in a California mall. The two argued about the autograph, and Fields mocked Coleman's lackluster career as an adult actor. Coleman testified that "I was getting scared, and she was getting ugly"; he said that he thought Fields was going to hit him, so he punched her. Coleman pleaded no contest and received a suspended sentence. He was also ordered to pay Fields $1,665 for hospital bills resulting from the fight.
On May 26, 2010, Coleman was admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah, after falling and hitting his head and suffering an epidural hematoma at his home in Santaquin, Utah. He was announced to be in critical condition. According to a hospital spokesman, Coleman was "conscious and lucid" on the morning of Thursday May 27, but his condition subsequently worsened. By mid-afternoon on May 27, 2010, Coleman was unconscious and on life support. He died at 12:05 p.m., the day after.

She was a Tennessee woman who spent most of her life in an iron lung. She contracted polio at age 3 and was confined to the iron lung for the rest of her life, until her death, due to a power failure cutting the breathing device's electricity.
Despite her difficulties she had some successes. She graduated from high school and took long-distance classes from Freed-Hardeman University. She was unable to earn a degree, but did receive an honorary degree. She also wrote a children's book using a voice activated computer.
Due to a spinal deformity caused by the polio, she was unable to change to a portable breathing device introduced in the late 1950s. This made her one of the longest time users of an iron lung, being confined to it for nearly 60 years.

Hartmann
Philip Edward (alias: Phil Hartmann). 1998-05-28

49

Born 1948-09-24. Domain:Performing. Cause of death:Murder

Hartman was murdered by his wife Brynn Hartman in his Encino, Los Angeles County, California home. While he slept, Brynn entered his bedroom with a revolver and fatally shot him multiple times in and around the mouth. Brynn was intoxicated at the time. She subsequently drove to the home of her friend Ron Douglas and, after confessing to the murder, fainted. After she regained consciousness, the pair drove back to Hartman's house in separate cars, where Douglas saw Hartman's body. Douglas then phoned emergency services and admitted to the call operator that he initially did not believe Brynn's story until he had seen Phil's body. On arrival, the police attempted to remove the Hartmans' two young children and Douglas from the premises. While this was happening, Brynn entered the bedroom and committed suicide by shooting herself once through the temple. At the time, an unnamed neighbor of the Hartmans' told a CNN reporter that the couple had been experiencing marital problems: "It's been building, but I didn't think it would lead to this." However, Steve Guttenberg commented that the pair were "a very happy couple, and they always had the appearance of being well-balanced." Phil Hartman directed in his will that his body be cremated, and his ashes were scattered over Santa Catalina Island's Emerald Bay.
The children are now being raised in Edina, Minnesota, by Brynn's sister Katharine Wright and her husband Mike, who have no children of their own.
Out of respect, the writers on The Simpsons retired Hartman's characters, rather than finding another voice actor. The episode "Bart the Mother" marked his final appearance on the show, and was dedicated to him.

Williams
Bill. 1998-05-28

37

Born 1960-05-29. Domain:Science (Physics style). Cause of death:cystic fibrosis

Bill Williams was an American game designer, programmer, and author born with cystic fibrosis, an incurable genetic disorder. According to a medical encyclopedia Williams consulted when he was 12, people with cystic fibrosis weren't expected to live past the age of 13. Williams created a string of computer games from 1982 through 1990 for the Atari 8-bit family and then the Amiga which are admired for their imaginative design concepts, innovative sound and music, and skillful implementation. Necromancer is a three-stage game about a wizard growing and controlling an army of trees. Scenarios in Alley Cat include stealthily drinking from the bowls of sleeping dogs, avoiding a sweeping broom to jump inside a fish bowl, and collecting ferns atop a bookcase protected by spiders. Mind Walker, one of the first games released for the Amiga, places the player inside the head of a physics professor gone mad. Late in his career he worked on a licensed title for the Nintendo Entertainment System and another for the Super NES, but became frustrated with the game business and left to attend the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and write two theological works.

Nevanlinna
Rolf. 1980-05-28

85

Born 1895-10-22. Domain:Science (Math style). Cause of death:Age

He was one of the most famous Finnish mathematicians. He was particularly appreciated for his work in complex analysis. Rolf Nevanlinna did not participate actively in politics, but in the thirties he was known to sympathise with the right-wing Patriotic People's Movement party and, partly because of his half German ancestry, was leaning towards Germany. In the spring of 1941, Finland contributed a battalion of volunteers to the Waffen SS, which then fought on the Eastern Front. At the time, the battalion was considered to form a certain bond with Germany, as Germany and Finland both fought against the Soviet Union, without a formal alliance. In 1942, an official SS Volunteer Committee was established in Finland to take care of the battalion's somewhat strained relations with its German superiors. Rolf Nevanlinna was chosen to be the chairman of the committee, as a person respected in Germany but loyal to Finland. The battalion was finally brought back to Finland and disbanded in 1943. Nevanlinna's Nazi sympathies during the war did not affect his mathematical contacts. His election to the presidency of the IMU was almost unanimous. In 1950 the Soviet mathematical community was isolated from their Western colleagues. The International Colloquium on Function Theory in Helsinki in 1957, directed by Nevanlinna, was the first post-war occasion when the Soviet mathematicians could contact their Western colleagues in person. In 1965, Rolf Nevanlinna was an honorary guest in a function theory congress in Armenia.
