The Texas Seven was a group of prisoners who escaped from the John Connally Unit near Kenedy, Texas, on December 13, 2000. They were apprehended a little more than a month later, on January 21–23, 2001, as a direct result of the television show America's Most Wanted. On December 13, 2000, the seven carried out an elaborate scheme and escaped from the John B. Connally Unit, a maximum-security state prison near the South Texas city of Kenedy. At the time of the breakout, the reported ringleader of the Texas Seven, 30-year-old George Rivas, was serving 18 consecutive 15-to-life sentences. George Rivas was sentenced to death after being extradited to Texas. Subsequently, the other five surviving members of the Texas 7 were also sentenced to death along with Rivas.

David Thomas "Davy" Jones was an English recording artist and actor, best known as a member of The Monkees. On the morning of 29 February 2012, Jones was found seated in his car complaining of chest pains and having difficulty breathing. He was rushed to Martin Memorial South Hospital in Stuart, Florida, where he was pronounced dead of a severe heart attack due to atherosclerosis.

He was a Guatemalan football goalkeeper who played for the Guatemalan national team and CSD Municipal.
Ortiz made his debut for Guatemala in February 2001 against Panama and collected a total of 11 caps.
During a 2004 match against CSD Comunicaciones he collided with Mario Rodríguez of the opposing team, suffering a torn pericardium. Ortiz died later at the hospital.
