Alain Prieur was a French cascadeur. On October 10, 1986, in Burkina Faso, he jumped from a plane at an altitude of 4,000 m without a parachute. Two of his teammates (including Patrick de Gayardon) brought him the parachute in progress. Alain Prieur installed and opened it before the limit. It was a world first. He repeated the jump in May 1987 over Gap airport. It was while repeating this almost identical stunt, which he had named "Zero Risk", (passing from one glider to another, one below the other, without a parachute) that he fell and killed himself. His colleagues brought him the parachute, but there were problems installing it. In fact, only one of the two carabiners could be installed and locked, and when it came to opening it snapped. He is buried in the Forcalquier cemetery.
