Lillet

Born 1917-00-00. Domain:Business. Cause of death:Age

Lillet (French pronunciation: French pronunciation: [li.lɛ]), classed as an aromatised wine within EU law, is a French wine-based aperitif from Podensac. It is a blend of 85% Bordeaux region wines (Semillon for the Blanc and for the Rosé, Merlot for the Rouge) and 15% macerated liqueurs, mostly citrus liqueurs (peels of sweet oranges from Spain and Morocco and peels of bitter green oranges from Haiti). The mix is then stirred in oak vats until blended. During the aging process, Lillet is handled as a Bordeaux wine (undergoing fining, racking, filtering etc.). In the original Kina Lillet formulation (so named with respect to its status as a quinquina), quinine liqueur made of cinchona bark from Peru was included among its ingredients. "Lillet" belongs to a family of aperitifs known as tonic wines because of the addition of quinine liqueur. In 1962, Pierre Lillet, grandson of Raymond, keen to capitalize on America's growing taste for red wine, created Lillet Rouge for the American market. • 1953: in the first Ian Fleming James Bond novel Casino Royale, James Bond invents and orders a Kina Lillet martini, which he named the "Vesper" after his love interest in the story: "A dry martini," he said. "One. In a deep champagne goblet." "Oui, Monsieur." "Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?" "Certainly, monsieur." The barman seemed pleased with the idea. • 1981: “Lillet” is the preferred drink of serial killer Hannibal Lecter in the series of books written by Thomas Harris. • 2006 and 2008: The Vesper was again prepared for James Bond in the remake of Casino Royale and its follow up Quantum of Solace.

Park
Gordon. 2010-01-25

Born 1944-01-25. Domain:Society. Cause of death:Suicide

The Lady in the Lake trial was a 2005 murder case in which Gordon Park, a retired teacher from Leece, near Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, was jailed for life for the murder of his first wife, Carol Ann Park, in 1976.
Carol Park went missing on 17 July 1976, and was never seen alive again by her family. In 1997, her body was discovered at the bottom of Coniston Water and Gordon was arrested on suspicion of murder. The charges were subsequently dropped but in 2004 Gordon was arrested again and found guilty of his wife's murder. The trial judge sentenced him to life imprisonment and recommended that he should serve a minimum of 15 years before being considered for parole. He was held at Garth prison, Leyland, Preston. In December 2007 he lodged an appeal against his conviction which was dismissed in November 2008. He was found hanged in his cell, and pronounced dead at the scene.
The details of the murder are sketchy. Carol was killed by her face being smashed by a blunt object of some sort, alleged in court to have been an ice axe. She was then bound with rope, using complex knots, weighed down with rocks and lead piping and thrown overboard from a boat on Coniston Water. The body landed on an underwater ledge where it was later found by amateur divers. Had it landed a few metres further from the shore, it would probably never have been discovered.
There was a great deal of controversy surrounding the case. Gordon received much support from his family and friends and maintained his innocence. There was a large amount of local interest in the trial as shown by the sales of the local paper, the North-West Evening Mail. Some claimed that much of the evidence against him could be discounted and there were vigils and petitions in attempts to free Gordon from prison and clear his name. The case featured prominently in the book No Smoke – The Shocking Truth About British Justice which outlined seven cases the author believed to be examples of innocent people being convicted of murder.
The morning of his 66th birthday, Park was found hanged and unconscious in his prison cell in Garth Prison, and pronounced dead at the scene later in the morning. It is believed that a ligature was involved, and that Park inflicted the injuries upon himself. Park had not been assessed for the risk of suicide. Jeremy Park said that "we are all completely devastated and still believe his innocence 100%."

Gordon had played the actress and singer Jane Birkin in Serge Gainsbourg, vie héroďque; a biopic of singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. Before the film was released, she was found hanged in her flat in Paris on 20 May 2009 after committing suicide.
French cinematographer Jérôme Alméras found Gordon hanged in their Paris flat. A French police official said Gordon appeared to have committed suicide by hanging. One police officer was quoted as calling the scene in the flat "absolutely horrific". Tabloid newspapers have reported that she left two suicide notes before hanging herself in the Paris flat; one detailing her last wishes regarding her estate, the other a letter for her parents. A neighbour is said to have heard the couple having an argument before Alméras fell asleep. Michel Haddi, who recently photographed Gordon for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, said she had revealed to him that she was in love with Alméras.

the cause of his death is identified as pneumonia and Alzheimer's disease. In what may be regarded as an ironic coincidence, Doohan died on the anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, arguably the greatest engineering achievement in human history.
Almost two years after his death, approximately one-quarter ounce (7 grams) of Doohan's ashes were sent into space, as he had requested in his will. The ashes, along with those of Mercury astronaut Gordon Cooper as well as almost 200 others, were launched on the SpaceLoft XL rocket, on April 28, 2007, when the rocket briefly entered outer space in a suborbital flight before parachuting to earth, as planned, with the payload still inside. He also appeared in the bizarre 1982 Israeli adaptation of H. Rider Haggard's She as "Hector." The film was directed by Avi Nesher and co-starred Sandahl Bergman. Fulci
Lucio. 1996-03-13

68

Born 1927-06-17. Domain:Directing. Cause of death:Age

He was an Italian film director, screenwriter and actor. Although he worked in a wide array of genres through a career as a film director spanning nearly five decades, including comedy and spaghetti westerns, he garnered an international cult following for his giallo and horror films. His most notable films include the "Gates of Hell" trilogy—City of the Living Dead (1980), The Beyond (1981), and The House by the Cemetery (1981)—as well as Massacre Time (1966), One on Top of the Other (1969), A Lizard in a Woman's Skin (1971), Don't Torture a Duckling (1972), White Fang (1973), Four of the Apocalypse (1975), Sette note in nero (1977), Zombi 2 (1979), The New York Ripper(1982), and A Cat in the Brain (1990). Although a number of films over the years were said to have been "co-produced" by Fulci, he was just allowing them to use his name to promote the films (with the exception of City of the Living Dead, which he did actively attempt to obtain some funding for). Because of the high level of visceral graphic violence present in many of his films, especially Zombi 2, The Beyond, Contraband and The New York Ripper, Fulci is frequently referred to as "The Godfather of Gore", a title also given to Herschell Gordon Lewis. Lucio Fulci died alone, in his sleep, in his apartment in Rome at around 2 P.M. on the afternoon of 13 March 1996, from diabetes-related complications at the age of 68. Toward the end of his life, Fulci had lost his house and was forced to move into a cramped apartment. Since Fulci had been so despondent in his later years, some believed that he may have intentionally allowed himself to die by not taking his diabetes medication, but this is controversial. Dario Argento paid for Fulci's funeral arrangements.
