Farina Sergio (b. 1926-09-08 / d. 2012-07-03) alias Sergio Pininfarina
He was an Italian automobile designer and Senator for life. In 1965 it was Sergio Pininfarina who personally persuaded Enzo Ferrari to adopt a "mid-engined" engine configuration for a new line of road cars, with the engine positioned behind the driver, but ahead of the rear wheels. The resulting Ferrari Dino Berlinette Speciale was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October, although it would be another two years before the cars were offered for sale. After his father's death in 1966, Pininfarina became chairman of the company. In 2006 Sergio and his son Andrea, who died in 2008 were named Honorary Chairmen of Pininfarina,

In February 2018 his two oldest children, David and Laura, announced that they were contesting his will, which left his entire estate to his last wife Laeticia and their two adopted children. The will was drafted in California, and their lawyers contend that it violates French laws which prevent children from being disinherited.

He was most well known for making the AC Motors-based Shelby American Cobra and later the Mustang-based performance cars for Ford Motor Company known as Mustang Cobras which he has done since 1965. His company, Shelby American Inc., founded in 1962, currently sells modified Ford vehicles, as well as performance parts. He had been suffering from a serious heart ailment for decades. Joe Conway, president of Carroll Shelby International, said that "we are all deeply saddened, and feel a tremendous sense of loss for Carroll's family, ourselves and the entire automotive industry. Known as The Father of Loud or The Lord of Loud, he was an English businessman, and pioneer of guitar amplification. His company, Marshall Amplification, has created kits used by some of the biggest names in rock, producing amplifiers with an iconic status. Marshall has been listed as one of the four forefathers of rock music equipment along with Leo Fender, Les Paul and Seth Lover.

He was the only child of American actor-director William Marshall and French actress Michèle Morgan. He had a long, though low-key, career as a character actor in French cinema. He was the stepson of Gérard Oury and the half-brother of Tonie Marshall (daughter of Micheline Presle).
He died in Caen, France, aged 60, of undisclosed causes; he was survived by his mother.
He had six children: Samantha, William, Deborah, Sarah, Peter and Jesse-Lee.

Some time before, he had published Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses (1988), and personally delivered an exemplary of the book to the Iranian embassy in Paris.
He died opportunedly from a heart attack while riding his bike.
